Joané Oosthuizen
At 25, South African singer-songwriter Joané is stepping into a new chapter of her musical journey, using her music to do what matters most to her: give praise, honour and glory to Jesus.
Joané’s love for music began at a young age. Growing up, she participated in choirs, Eisteddfods and musicals, developing a passion for both performing and creating music. In 2018, she placed second in the Solis Vir Christus – Uitblinkers competition, marking an important milestone in her early musical journey.
Her musicianship has continued to develop through various mentorships and hands-on experience. She taught herself the basics of guitar and ukulele, while also learning the foundations of piano and now continuing to develop her piano skills through lessons. These experiences have helped shape her into an artist who values both musical growth and authentic expression.
Joané’s sound blends pop with singer-songwriter and folk-inspired elements. Her musical influences include Rend Collective, Mumford & Sons, Jaime McDonald, Anne Wilson, Brooke Ligertwood and Brandon Lake. Drawing inspiration from these artists, she aims to create music that combines heartfelt storytelling, memorable melodies and a genuine expression of faith.
Her fourth release marks a significant milestone in her journey as an artist. It is her first English-language single and her first fully contemporary Christian song, representing a more intentional step into creating music that openly reflects her relationship with Jesus. For Joané, music is not simply a creative outlet; it is a way to share her faith and use the gifts she has been given to honour God.
Outside of music, Joané is currently completing her final year of a BCom Marketing degree while working full-time as a social media manager and marketer. Her background in marketing and creativity naturally complements her work as an independent artist, giving her an understanding of storytelling, communication and connecting with audiences.
Looking ahead, Joané hopes to become increasingly involved in ministry-focused events, particularly those aimed at youth and young people. She has a growing desire to use both her music and her story to encourage others, create meaningful connections and point people towards Jesus.
As she continues to grow as an artist, Joané remains committed to creating music that is honest, hopeful and rooted in faith – with the ultimate goal of giving all praise, honour and glory to God.
